In Pakistan, the digital divide remains a significant barrier to accessing education and work opportunities. However, the One Laptop Per Pakistani (OLPP) initiative, spearheaded by Rehan Allahwala laptop scheme, a celebrated social media influencer, is an ambitious project aimed at closing the digital divide in Pakistan. The project offers chrome books to every household on a Rs. 1000 per month interest-free installment plan, making it possible for everyone, irrespective of their socio-economic background, to access education and work opportunities from home.
